name

Something’s my name, I’m not fussy what thing,

although I don’t want to be COVID-19.

People always tell me to “do Something!”

and I reply “I do plenty of myself, thank-you!”

“and that’s none of your business, FU!”

I’m envious of Nothing, no, serious, I am envious of Nothing

who is never heard, touched, or seen,

waiting to spring into me.

“You got to do Something!”

and I say, “Yes Please!”

“Do me right now, I am begging you!”

Something is always around the corner,

is a popular saying,

but I promise I have much better things to do

than to be spying on you!

I do get massively favoured by most of the world,

who think they’re too good for Nothing.

But that’s not saying much, and they don’t know much,

I am much fetishized, overrated.

It sucks being me all day without rest,

“You don’t get Something for Nothing”

they stupidly tease,

I try not to run but I too easily do.

But Something I am, don’t grow up to be me,

Something’s my name, you all love me!

Stairs is my name Stairs is my name, you’ll climb Up and Down me, I layer up to transport and transform you To the top of whatever, Point A to Point B, less likely to slip like my friend Hill. I’m mostly hard, built full of concrete, sometimes I am wood, sometimes I am cracked, decomposing. I rhyme with chairs, not sure why I wrote this, Heaven awaits when you reach me! “The man who cannot visualize a horse galloping on a tomato is an idiot.” A man most associated with surrealism, Breton was also a Dadaist in his early years (whatever a Dadaist really means). The French writer was a champion of a shared Dada/Surrealist method called automatism where creative works are mostly produced spontaneously without constraints, planning, and overly conscious thoughts. After a brief medical career, where he took a major interest in mental illness, Breton moved to Paris where he would soon join the Dada movement and play a major part in its beginnings in France. Breton appeared in the first Dada performance in Paris in early 1920 which was the start of many provocations and controversies during that same year and in the years directly after.
