Banana Is My Name

Banana is my name Banana is my name, I’m yellow or green sometimes I turn brown when you leave me. I’m curved and cylindrical, used for much innuendo, I’m unpeeled to be eaten, nice and mushy. I’m in smoothies and splits, muffins and cakes, pyjamas may dress me, come and find me.   I’ve been a star of many silent films – slip on my peel like my good friend Charlie Chaplin. Gorillas and Monkeys clamber for me. I’m big where it’s warm, I don’t stretch or bend, but I’m easily cut up or you can spread me. Banana is my name, come and eat me! Now time for my anti-dada moment that I share with all my named friends… This is the T-shirt and Hoodie I wear, the poster I see on my wall: https://teespring.com/stop-or-banana

André Breton

“The man who cannot visualize a horse galloping on a tomato is an idiot.” A man most associated with surrealism, Breton was also a Dadaist in his early years (whatever a Dadaist really means). The French writer was a champion of a shared Dada/Surrealist method called automatism where creative works are mostly produced spontaneously without constraints, planning, and overly conscious thoughts. After a brief medical career, where he took a major interest in mental illness, Breton moved to Paris where he would soon join the Dada movement and play a major part in its beginnings in France. Breton appeared in the first Dada performance in Paris in early 1920 which was the start of many provocations and controversies during that same year and in the years directly after. One of these performances included Breton appearing with a revolver tied to each of his temples. “I do not think that the nature of the finished product is more important than the choice between cake and cher...

Tristan Tzara

Tristan Tzara “You'll never know why you exist, but you'll always allow yourselves to be easily persuaded to take life seriously.” One of the main forces behind the Dada movement, Tristan Tzara, a Romanian born French poet and essayist, caused a sensation in the early twentieth century with his provocations, disruptions and ideas. Originally named Samuel Rosenstock , Tzara joined with other Dada originators such as Hugo Ball, Emmy Hennings, Marcel Janco, Arthur Segal, Jean Arp, Sophie Taeuber, Richard Huelsenbeck, and Hans Richter in Zurich to form a loose Dada collective during the World War I years. Putting on performances at the Cabaret Voltaire – which included reciting and performing experimental poetry, dance, prose, music, sounds, visual art and other creative expressions – the group quickly gained notoriety. However, like everything, it didn’t last and the group eventually dispersed, with Tzara taking Dada to Paris in 1919 to continue his Dadaist work with...

House Is My Name

House is my name House is my name, I’m open to some, hidden to those without means. My hat’s name is roof and it likes to lick rain, it drinks and it gurgles in gutters.
